The Potlatch School District Board of Trustees selected Mrs. Janet Avery as their next Superintendent.
The Board spent many hours reviewing candidates, discussing reference calls, interviewing, and reviewing feedback from the meet and greet. Upon considering all of the candidate’s strengths and contributions for the District, the Board overwhelmingly felt that Mrs. Avery was the best candidate.
“We look forward to having Mrs. Janet Avery as our next Superintendent. Her career has been full of successful experiences. Her leadership, background, and ideas will be very beneficial to our staff, students, and community,” said Emily Hunt, Potlatch Board Chair.
Avery currently serves as the Curriculum Director for the Jerome School District and has been in that role since 2013. Prior to that role, she served as both the Principal and Assistant Principal of the Jerome Middle School. She has been working in education as a teacher since 1992, and was awarded the Administrator of the Year Award in 2014 by the Idaho Education Technology Association. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the University of Idaho, and completed an Executive Educational Leadership program at Boise State University. She holds an Idaho Superintendent certification.
